Bīj Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice
Last updated: October 26, 2026
This notice supplements the Bīj Privacy Policy where consumer-health-data laws, including Washington's My Health My Data Act or Nevada's applicable law, protect your use of Bīj. It does not characterize Bīj as a medical service or waive rights elsewhere.
1. Information and sources
Wellness practice information may qualify as consumer health data: meditation or breathwork type, practice dates/durations/completions, return days, personal wellness details you provide and related account/device identifiers. Written reflections, voice recordings and photos may contain health information depending on their content.
We receive information you enter, activity generated when you use features, and relevant sign-in or purchase information from providers. In 1.1.2, local reflections, Voice Reflection audio and selected photo attachments are processed on your device and are not uploaded by Bīj; older hosted written entries and their edits remain hosted. Earlier versions attempted reflection synchronization. See the main Privacy Policy for historical processing and unknown provider retention.
“Not uploaded” describes the technical behavior; it is not a claim that device-local processing falls outside every consumer-health law.
2. Purposes and choices
We use relevant information to provide practices and personal history you request, operate accounts/member access and calculate qualifying Forest activity. Technical records also support service operation, security and reliability as described in the main Privacy Policy. Optional usage analytics are off in the App Store release of version 1.1.2.
We obtain consent where required before collection beyond information necessary to provide a requested service, and separate consent where required for sharing. Agreeing to general Terms does not replace a required health-data consent. You can choose whether to record, write, select photos or use other optional features.
3. Recipients
Relevant service providers can include Base44 for accounts, hosted records and practice requests; Cloudflare for Forest processing; RevenueCat and Apple for purchase/account association; and hosting, communications or security providers where the specific service requires information. These categories identify possible recipients according to the service, not a statement that every provider receives every data type. Local audio and photo attachments are not sent to those providers by Bīj.
Information is processed under applicable service-provider arrangements and law. We do not sell consumer health data, use it for targeted advertising or make it public to other members. We do not operate geofences around healthcare facilities to identify or track people seeking care.
4. Rights and requests
Contact info@bijapp.ca with “Consumer health data request” to request confirmation/access, information about relevant collection or disclosures, withdrawal of consent, or deletion, as applicable. We verify identity proportionately and explain any lawful limit.
If we refuse a request, you can appeal by replying to the decision or emailing the Privacy Officer with “Appeal”. We respond within the period required by the applicable law and explain available regulator complaint options. Exercising protected rights will not itself cause unlawful discrimination.
Where applicable law requires 45-day response or appeal periods, permitted extensions, downstream deletion or backup treatment, we follow those requirements rather than applying a single universal retention deadline. Device exports and backups are explained in the main policy.
You may contact the Washington State Attorney General or the Nevada Attorney General where their law applies. Other rights may be available through your local regulator.
